Centrifugal Separator for Edible Oil Degumming

Separator duty in degumming

Degumming prepares crude oil by conditioning phospholipid gums so they can be separated from the oil phase. A centrifugal separator may be used after water, acid or other appropriate conditioning, depending on the selected refining route.

Water, acid and enzymatic routes

Water degumming, acid degumming and enzymatic degumming use different conditioning chemistry and residence requirements. Separator selection must account for the resulting gum phase, feed temperature, solids burden, throughput and required oil recovery. Ferro Oiltek does not treat these routes as identical.
