A bulk-material-handling project starts with the movement required between receiving, storage, preparation, extraction, finished-product handling and dispatch. Different stages may require different equipment. The system designer above captures a preliminary route; the final layout must also account for surge capacity, feed consistency, access, supports and process interfaces.

Information for equipment selection

For domestic and export projects, include the installation country, site layout, operating hours, utility information and applicable project requirements in the technical brief. Separate confirmed information from assumptions. The engineering team can then review individual conveyors and the interfaces between machines without treating a preliminary online calculation as a certified design.

Project questions

Where should an oilseed conveying project start?

Map receiving, cleaning, preparation and the extraction or pressing route, then specify the material at each transfer. Whole seeds, prepared material, meal and hulls can require different handling arrangements.

Can the same brief cover non-oilseed bulk materials?

Yes. Identify the actual material and its handling characteristics in the enquiry. Compatibility, construction and safety requirements must be reviewed before a recommendation or quotation.
