Neutralization separation
In chemical refining, caustic neutralization converts free fatty acids into soapstock. A suitable high-speed centrifugal separator can separate the heavier soap phase from neutral oil after the reaction and conditioning steps.
Oil washing separation
Oil washing reduces residual soap and water-soluble impurities after neutralization. A washing separator is selected for the expected oil-water interface, emulsion tendency, temperature, throughput and downstream drying requirement.
